Greek beer with ouzo

I'd like to show you a nice little Greek restaurant in Berlin Friedrichshain, in walking distance to the television tower. It's located in the Karl-Marx-Allee, where the regime of former East Germany used to do their parades. That's why the street is very broad and if you want to sit outside the restaurant the traffic is far away. But it's really nice and cozy inside the restaurant, too. If you are interested in socialist architecture, I recommend a walk through this street.

We used to live around the corner, so we found this restaurant years ago when we went for a walk. I'm not the biggest fan of Greek cuisine, because I like it less oily, but I can find many dishes I love on their menu. My husband is a big fan of Greek cuisine, tho. I can't count how many times we visited this place while we lived in this area.

They have typical authentic dishes on their menu. I could not notice any difference to the food we had in Greece when we visited the small island of Kos 2018 in our holidays. They also have a changing offer of fresh fish or seafood. This time I had the grilled octopus with taramas creme as a starter. They also serve warm bread and mixed salads with every main dish you order. For the main, we had calamari and the Kefalos plate (mixed grill). We have also visited the small town Kefalos on Kos, so we often ordered this dish because of good memories :)

The staff is very attentive and quick. They are friendly and kind too. I cannot say anything bad about. Everything has excellent value. The food was always fresh and of good quality. I would recommend going there for some casual dining with friends or family.

If you go to a Greek restaurant in Germany, it's very typical to drink lots of ouzo. When we visited this restaurant the first time in 2015, they used to give one ouzo per ordered drink. Even if it wasn't an alcoholic drink :) Now they cut the free ouzo to one for the first drink and one for the check. They may have had to reduce their costs or the German tax office knocked on their door.
